Steps

AirTrain: From the terminals, use SFO’s free AirTrain and board the Blue Line to the Rental Car Center (780 N. McDonnell Road). The Red Line serves other airport stops—confirm you are on the Blue Line for rental cars. Exact corridors and elevator banks differ by terminal; follow overhead Rental Car / AirTrain signs.
  1. Baggage claim: Look for the nearest elevators or escalators. You must head up to Level 3 to reach the bridges leading to the AirTrain.
  2. Up to the AirTrain level: Use elevators or escalators as signed to reach the AirTrain level (the first map labels this step as Elevator to Level 3).
  3. AirTrain platform: Continue following signs to the AirTrain station, then board the Blue Line toward the Rental Car Center.
  4. Arrive at the RCC: Get off at the Rental Car Center stop. Enter the rental counter building; you first reach the main counter hall on Level 4 (see the white “Level 4 — RCC” area on the second map).
  5. Elevator to Level 1: SIXT check-in is on the bottom floor. After entering Level 4, walk past the main rental counters along that hall to the elevators at the far right. Use them to go down 3 floors to Level 1. Note for Elite Members: If you have Sixt Platinum or Diamond status, you can use the priority counter on Level 4 (passed on your way to the elevators) before heading down to Level 2 for your car.
  6. Sixt counter (Level 1): On Level 1, follow the lobby hallway to the SIXT counter (highlighted on the map). Get your keys and complete your paperwork here.
  7. Elevator to Level 2: After getting your keys, return to the elevator bank and go up one floor to Level 2 for vehicle pickup.
  8. Sixt pickup (Level 2 garage): Exit the elevator on Level 2 and follow the SIXT signs into the parking area to find your car.
